Hi everyone, I'm Erica, the proud founder of Wear Your Words, a clothing brand with a heart.

 

We’re all about making a positive impact by supporting people who face challenges with verbal communication—like those with autism, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, dementia, and more.

 

I’ve worked with SEND students for over 22 years and wanted to create something to help those who find it hard to express their needs. Our communication hoodies, bags, and more are made for those who are nonverbal, preverbal, or just need a little help to express themselves.

Each item is fully customised and can be worn or carried by the individual, parent, or carer. Our simple symbol design makes it easy for everyone to understand—reducing the need for extra communication tools and cutting down on the frustration of not being able to get a message across.

We create jumpers with clear messages and symbols—like “toilet” or “help.” These aren’t just clothes—they're tools for dignity and self-expression.

We also understand that emotions can be hard to communicate. That’s why we designed Emotion Jumpers, each with symbols for feelings like “happy,” “sad,” “anxious,” “tired,” “embarrassed,” and more. They support emotional regulation, reduce stress, and help caregivers and peers better understand what’s going on inside.

We collaborate with families, carers, educators, and health professionals to ensure our designs are inclusive, respectful, and useful—at school, in care, or out in the community.

Our jumpers are already helping students in both SEN and mainstream schools across Hertfordshire. The feedback has been amazing, and it shows how impactful these tools can be.

Our mission? To bring confidence, understanding, and inclusion to those who are often overlooked. Wear Your Words gives them a voice they can literally wear.
